Students from The Island VI Form showcased their creative talents recently with a special exhibition at the Independent Arts Gallery in Newport.
The exhibition formed part of the students’ Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. Family, friends, tutors, governors and members of the Island’s art community turned out in force for the Private View, which was very well attended.
A broad range of disciplines were on display, including painting, ceramics, sculpture, graphic communication, fashion design and film. The students have been praised for the high quality of their work and their diverse approach to exploring different themes.
Course leaders and tutors have congratulated the students on their achievements and thanked Independent Arts for hosting the exhibition and supporting the event’s success.
The Foundation Diploma in Art and Design is the only course of its kind offered on the Isle of Wight. It provides 18 to 19-year-olds with the chance to develop their creative and practical skills, design and build a portfolio, and prepare for university and careers in the art and design sector.
