Things on the Isle of Wight are starting to return to normal this morning (Saturday) as the snow and ice that has hampered Island life for the past 2 days continues to melt away – but there are changes to waste collections for the next week.
Most roads are now fully accessible with the Island’s core network completely free of snow and ice, but some side roads remain slippery in places. Islanders are advised to proceed with caution on both the roads and pavements, sticking to main routes if possible.
Southern Vectis buses have returned near normality following the improvement to road conditions overnight.

Route 6 – not serving Blackgang Chine, Buddle Inn or Bannock Rd, Whitwell

Route 9 – normal service
Route 12 – normal service
Route 32 – not operating
Route 37 – normal service. Diversion in place for continued Ashey Road roadworks
Route 38 – resumed at 11:35
Island Line trains are running a normal, timetabled service.
The Isle of Wight Council say that waste and recycling collections for the coming week have been altered, with Amey working a 6-day week to clear the backlog.

Both Lynnbottom Household and Commercial recycling centres open at 11:30.
