Local schoolgirl Lyra completed a 23-mile charity walk last weekend, raising nearly £1,500 for Cats Protection.
The 12-year-old began her epic challenge on Sunday 9th February at The Needles with the aim of walking non-stop to the finishing line at Shanklin & Sandown Golf Course.
Having battled the wind and the rain for most of the day, Lyra completed the walk in an impressive 9-hours.
Initially, Lyra had hoped to raise just £200 but that total was quickly surpassed and a more ambitious figure of £1,000 set. Overall, Lyra’s lengthy trek raised a massive £1,459 for those feline friends most in need.
