53-year-old Matthew Lewendon has been remanded in custody to appear before the Crown Court charged with threatening a person with an offensive weapon.
Lewendon, now of no fixed abode but previously of Fort Street in Sandown, was arrested in the seaside town yesterday (Wednesday).
As first reported by Island Echo, PCSO Webb gave pursuit on his electric bicycle when the 53-year-old made a run for it. He was detained on York Road on suspicion of a number of offences.
Following a period of questioning, the Crown Prosecution Service approved charges yesterday evening with Lewendon remanded overnight to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this morning (Thursday).
The charges relate to an incident on 27th September at the Premier Inn on Sandown Esplanade, when it’s alleged that staff were threatened with a dog lead.
At today’s Magistrates hearing, Lewendon was further remanded in custody to appear at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 11th November.

Must be a right scumbag nomad to be kicked out of the Fort street cesspit.. cruel isn’t it when vermin like this are alive yet decent people die young… the words – hammer- dark night-no cameras come to mind
They should have filmed the chase. A real Keystone Cops moment I imagine.
