UPDATED: One of the Island’s most respected chefs, Robert Thompson, has taken up a position at The George Hotel in Yarmouth and today (Tuesday) cooked pancakes for the town’s annual Shrove Tuesday event.
The Michelin-starred chef, formerly of The Hamborough in Ventnor, was this morning revealed to the public as he served delicious pancakes to local residents and visitors alike at the town’s Pancake Day races.
The day got underway as the sun shone down on the crowds gathered, with children and adults tossing, dropping, running and walking with their pancakes all in the name of fun.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY: A statement has been issued this morning confirming Mr Thompson’s appointment as Head Chef at The George.
Robert said:
“I’m honoured to be working on a new project at The George and to be able to continue my career on the Isle of Wight. There are exciting plans underway for both The George’s dining, and the hotel itself, which will be announced in more detail over the coming months.”
