Quarr Abbey Art Gallery has just unveiled Isle of Wight artist Andrew Dowden’s Summer Exhibition – a collection of unique and distinctive, handmade, hand-carved ceramics and complementary textured wall art – is to be shown later this month.
The public has the opportunity to view Andrew Dowden’s work and purchase directly from the artist, with Quarr Abbey receiving a percentage of all exhibition sales.
Ideas and designs for the ceramic work come from various sources including nature, architecture and archaeology.
Ceramic tile panels, wall plaques and standing forms are popular with collectors, in particular Tumbling Squares, Standing Stones and Wheel Forms. Surface texture and form are Andrew’s main interests in ceramics, and textured designs have also been incorporated into his oil-painted, abstract wall art.
Andrew will be in attendance during the exhibition and will be happy to discuss his work. Open daily from Thursday, 21st July to Tuesday, 26th July 2022, 10:00 to 17:00 with free entry to the exhibition, Abbey Church and grounds.
