Coroner Caroline Sumeray reached an open conclusion at Tuesday’s inquest in Newport, saying that she could not be certain Mr Weekes intended to end his life due to high levels of alcohol in his system and the effects carbon monoxide poisoning.

The inquest heard how Mr Weekes had tried to take his own life by means of filling the car with exhaust fumes, however exited the Renault Laguna before later taking control of the car and driving over the edge to his death.
