Police are hunting for a male wanted in connection with a violent attack in Newport last night (Thursday) which left a man with injuries to his head and 2 women fearing for their lives.
Officers were called to an address on the corner of West Street at just before 20:00 to reports that a male had sustained a stab injury.
Several Police units descended on the scene and sealed off a flat, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
Officers remain in attendance this morning having maintained a scene guard overnight as investigations continue.
Island Echo is told that the prime suspect remains at large, despite efforts overnight to locate him. It’s understood the suspect made his way into a flat and stabbed the casualty in the neck.
The casualty – a middle-aged man – was taken to hospital by Police shortly before 21:30. He was initially treated at the scene by an enhanced care paramedic from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
UPDATE @ 12:41 – Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the force was called at 19:55 to reports of an assault – possibly involving a fork.
A man in his 40s suffered an injury to his jaw and neck area but has since been discharged from hospital.
Enquiries into the wider circumstances remain ongoing.
Police remain at the property this afternoon.

I’m often puzzled, those who regularly advocate the need to teach respect at an early age,(which I completely agree with btw) are also the ones who don’t flinch at publicly calling groups of people things like scum???
Not wanting to sound too woke or lefties etc, but many if not majority of persistent criminals are a victim themselves if you look any further than island echo. Be it bad upbringing, poverty, drug/alcohol abuse within family, abuse suffered as kids, mental health issues, health conditions not treated appropriately or soon enough. The list goes on.
Yes, something is broken with the system, yes this cycle needs to be addressed differently, and yes, respect for others is relevant. Explain how labelling ppl scum helps?
Because the scum have no morality, making excuses for these people won’t change their attitude to life, its simply too late….That’s why we must teach children the meaning of respect, not only for themselves but to others as well…..You can’t teach new tricks to an old dog…

Mental health problems have escalated. Many many people are cracking up and there is NO MENTAL HEALTH HELP AVAILABLE UNLESS YOU ARE ABOUT TO JUMP OVER CULVER. When its too late. Where is the love and care for each other? Its not taught, so its not learned. Kids have absolutely no hope or vision for thier future. Without any support whatsover the problem is going to get much much worse.
Legal systems the problem, there’s simply no deterrent for this kinda behaviour? Probably get a suspended sentence due to mental health being the excuse?
No one forces someone to pick up a knife weapon what ever , I’m so sick of hearing people stabbing people to death more so kids! No matter how you have been brought up ect the choice lies with you and you only! Only a scumbag uses a knife or weapon hope they get him soon and off the streets
