Hovertravel is looking at bringing back its special Lee-on-Solent to Isle of Wight services in summer 2027 after more than 3,000 enquiries were received about this year’s flights.
The cross-Solent operator says no dates have yet been confirmed for next summer, but passengers can now register their interest to be among the first to find out when tickets go on sale.
Hovertravel operated special services between Lee-on-Solent and Ryde during summer 2026, attracting passengers travelling in both directions.
The flights gave Isle of Wight residents the opportunity to visit Lee-on-Solent by hovercraft, while mainland passengers travelled in the opposite direction for days out in Ryde and elsewhere across the Island.
Following what Hovertravel has described as the “outstanding success” of the programme, the company is now considering further opportunities to operate the route in 2027.
More than 3,000 enquiries were received from people across the Solent area and beyond in connection with the 2026 services.
Those interested in travelling next year are being encouraged to register online, with Hovertravel saying registered customers will be among the first to receive details once dates are confirmed.
The company also intends to announce the 2027 programme earlier to give passengers more time to organise trips.

“The response to our Lee-on-Solent flights this summer has been fantastic. We have seen a huge amount of enthusiasm from customers on both sides of the Solent, and it has been particularly pleasing to see people travelling in both directions and discovering what each destination has to offer.
“Following the success of the 2026 programme, we are already looking at opportunities for 2027. We don’t have any dates to announce just yet, but we want to make sure that customers who are keen to travel are the first to know when we do.
“We’re therefore asking customers to register their interest on our website. This will ensure they receive the news as soon as the 2027 dates are confirmed. We also recognise that customers want more time to plan, so we will endeavour to announce next year’s flights earlier.
“The level of interest we’ve experienced demonstrates the enduring appeal of hovercraft and the appetite for travel between Lee-on-Solent and the Isle of Wight. We’re very grateful to everyone who travelled with us this year and to all those who helped make the 2026 programme such a success.”
