Hovertravel have suspended their Ryde-Southsea service due to adverse weather conditions on the Solent this afternoon (Saturday).
The travel operator says that an update will be provided at 14:15
The current ticket acceptance arrangement means Hovertravel customers can use their tickets to travel on Wightlink ferries at no extra cost when services are cancelled.
UPDATE @ 16:10 – Services remain suspended this afternoon.
The next update is due 17:15, although this is not guarantee that hovers will resume flights.
UPDATE – Services have now resumed.
Gosh, the new hovers seem to be cancelled so frequently now, the old hovers would have never been cancelled in this weather, I remember having to catch the old hovers when the fastcats weren’t able to sail because of the wind, now it seems that any slight wind or chop and it’s off for the day. Is there some kind of design fault with the new ones ?
Safety first if something happened in the winds ie accident everyone would be saying why didn’t hover cancel well done HOVER TRAVEL SAFETY FIRST
Was the weather that ‘adverse’ yesterday ? Perhaps there were other reasons e.g. mechanical problems,staff shortages or low passenger numbers ?
