UPDATED: Hovertravel’s cross-Solent service between Ryde and Southsea has been suspended this afternoon (Monday) due to technical issues.
Earlier this afternoon it was announced that a shuttle service was in operation, but that has since been upgraded to a full suspension of service.
It is understood an issue has developed with the aging Freedom 90 craft, which has been the only hovercraft in service since yesterday’s incident with Island Flyer.
Solent Flyer, 1 of 2 new hovers for the route, has been undergoing maintenance work but is expected to re-enter service soon allowing operations to continue.
It is currently unknown what has caused the breakdown.
UPDATE @ 17:15 – A shuttle service is now in operation with Solent Flyer, which has been brought back into service.
