UPDATED: Police have cordoned off a section of Albert Road in Shanklin this morning (Monday), with an inner cordon in place surrounding a property.
Island Echo understands officers were called to the scene near Shanklin Primary School at around 07:15, but it is currently unclear as to what has taken place.
Parents of pupils at the nearby school are being advised by text that a one-way traffic system is in place and the gate will remain open until further notice.
UPDATE @ 09:15 – Unconfirmed reports in to Island Echo indicate at least 1 body has been found at an address on Albert Road, prompting an investigation.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to confirm details of the ongoing incident, however say it appears to be an ‘isolated incident’ and that there is no risk to the local community.
Police remain at the scene this morning – with more units arriving – and the road remains cordoned off at the junction with Victoria Avenue and Hatherton Road.
UPDATE @ 10:05 – 2 forensic investigators have arrived at Albert Road and are erecting a tent at the scene as the heavy rain continues to fall.
Cordons remain in place.

UPDATE @ 15:00 – Mainland forensic specialists have joined local teams at Albert Road as investigations continue.
Island Echo understands the bodies of 2 elderly people have been found inside a house.
The street remains cordoned off this afternoon as officers conduct door to door enquiries.
Hampshire Constabulary are yet to confirm any details.
UPDATE @ 17:30 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed a 77-year-old man and a 83-year-old woman have been found dead inside a property on Albert Road.
