VIDEO: Police have confirmed they are investigating the discovery of 2 bodies at an address in Shanklin today (Monday).
As first reported by Island Echo, Police cordoned off Albert Road between Victoria Avenue and Hatherton Road at around 07:15 this morning, with an inner cordon also put in place surrounding a residential property.
Hampshire Constabulary have said that officers found the body of a 77-year-old male alongside the body of a 83-year-old woman at an address on Albert Road this morning.
Island Echo understands the deceased are husband and wife and that the male was found hanged.
No one else is being sought in connection with either death.
Formal identification procedures are ongoing and specialist officers are currently supporting the next of kin.
Post mortem examinations are due to take place tomorrow.
This latest incident come just a week after a man was murdered at his flat in Ryde and less than 3 weeks since 6-year-old Keziah Flux-Edmonds died following an apparent murder-suicide in East Cowes, totalling 5 deaths in just 3 weeks.
UPDATE @ 19:50 – Albert Road has now reopened to traffic and pedestrians following the conclusion of scene examination by forensic officers.
Police remain at Number 24 tonight maintaining a scene guard.
One neighbour has left flowers outside the semi-detached property saying “No more pain or suffering”.
