policeinvestigate400Police are investigating a burglary in Newport that resulted in a large amount of cash, passports and driving licences being stolen.

The incident occurred in Hinton Road, Carisbrooke on Friday (13th February) when a mix of Euros and British notes were stolen alongside other items.

The occupants of the private residence left their home at 19:00 on Friday and when they returned shortly after midnight, they discovered the house had been ransacked.

DS Lee Torrance of Newport CID said:

“This way is a fairly unusual burglary given the nature and extent of the search carried out and it’s left the couple very upset to think that someone has done this.

“We’re following up several lines of enquiry and would like the public’s help”.
