A Newport man has been arrested and bailed after damage was caused to a hotel in Ryde yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
Police were called to reports that a man had caused damage to a hotel on Dover Street at around 16:00.
The male in question was also said to be laying in the middle of the road and was being abusive to members of the public.
At the scene, a 31-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
Island Echo understands that the male was staying at the hotel at the time of his arrest, with his suitcase placed in the rear of a Police van.
He has since been released on unconditional bail until 8th June whilst enquiries continue.
Did they really need to send FOUR police vehicles???
And what was he laying in the road – paving stones, eggs?
I thought Bergerac was being filmed in Jersey.
Four vehicles to pack a suitcase
Maybe it was a trunk.
Wanted to upvote but can’t work out how to do so on this new system. So yes agree unbelievable waste of money for one unruly down and out.
What is becoming of the island !
Just like to know who was paying for him to stay at an hotel I couldn’t afford. Him or us? If us, how many more are we paying for their keep there … and why? Sounds like a subject worthy of investigation, Echo.
