Reports of several hot tub thefts led to an Isle of Wight Police officer tracking down and seizing stolen goods on Saturday (17th July).
Local super-sleuth, PC Livvy, was investigating the thefts when a colleague spotted a CleverSpa for sale on a local selling site – believed to be on Facebook. The inflatable 4-person tub, with a retail price of around £380, matched the description of a tub that had been lifted from B&Q in Newport between midday and 17:00.
A visit was paid to the seller who had listed the suspicious spa online and a tub matching the description of the one stolen was located and seized.
Meanwhile, users of an online Facebook selling site have seen the funny side of the situation, with one post advertising a hot tub drawing plenty of witty comments.
One user said:
“Bargain at that price – sounds like a steal!”
While another quipped:
“Actually annoyed by this I thought it was legit and wanted to buy it! Stupid idiots!”
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that an investigation into a theft from B&Q has been launched, but hasn’t commented on as to whether any arrests have been made. The seized hot tub was taken to Newport Police Station.

Someone going to be in hot water over this
Hot tub taken back to the police station……..mmmm for all them to get in in the yard in this heat i bet
If the police had not said how they located the stolen goods then that would have possibly left that opportunity available for catching more idiots doing the same?
I expect they’re testing it at the police station to make sure there’s no leaks
Not much thought there .
Steal the crown jewels the put on Ebay no way.
