HOEGH OSAKA MOVES OVERNIGHT IN STRONG WINDS

hoeghosakaWinds gusting at 72 knots moved the Hoegh Osaka around 100 metres overnight, according to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The strong winds experienced across the Isle of Wight and the Solent area overnight caused the Hoegh Osaka to drag anchor for approximately 100m whilst at anchor on Alpha Anchorage.

Despite the movement, the incident has not changed the state of the vessel in anyway and the list has not altered. There is still no evidence of pollution.

Two tugs remain attached to the Hoegh Osaka, one fore and one aft. The aim is to attach another tug to the bow if weather permits.

Unfortunately, the weather conditions today are unsafe for the salvors to board to finalise pumping arrangements resulting in a delay to the salvage operation.
