The list of the Hoegh Osaka has been reduced to 48 degrees as pumping of the water on board gets fully underway.
According to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the vessel remains stable and is now at 48 degrees with approximately 800 tonnes of clean water having been pumped from the lower car decks yesterday (Saturday) – two weeks over the vessel ran aground on Brambles Bank.
The operation is continuing today but progress is anticipated to be slower as divers have to reposition the pump to ensure only clean water is discharged.
The MCA say the Hoegh Osaka is unlikely to be moved to Southampton Port before Wednesday.
An exclusion zone of 300m remains in place around the vessel.
