A 2nd series of the popular TV documentary ‘Isle of Wight: Jewel of the South’ has been commissioned by Channel 5, it has been confirmed.
Daisybeck Studios say the crews are very much looking forward to once again capturing the brilliant stories on the Island that viewers seemed to love.
The show is currently casting with further details to be revealed in due course.
The huge success of the Isle of Wight series has prompted the creation of a similar show about Jersey and Guernsey, also narrated by Alan Titchmarsh. The Channel Islands series due to launch on Channel 5 on Thursday (15th June).

“This series follows the success of Isle of Wight: Jewel of the South, which was recently a ratings winner for Channel 5 as Island life appeals to the Great British public.”

If it’s anything like the first one, don’t bother that was crap.
Shame they did not aim the cameras at the Derelict Hotels blotting the landscape in
Sandown
Hope we dont have any more of that Hotel in Yarmouth and perhaps go to other places on the Island. There is better hotel in Ventnor (The Royal) and there are litter pickers around the rest of the Island so can we skip Sandown as well please.
Maybe this time they will aim the cameras at the Derelict buildings
Not like previously when they showed Sandown to look like the Ritz
When it actually looks like the Pits!
I hope the show let’s Holidaymakers know that parking in
Car Parks or on Seafronts, there is a 24/7 parking fee.
Even in London you do not have to pay to park a vehicle 24/7
most boroughs after 6.30pm it is free to park
NOT ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT!
£2 evening charge
Also the Island charges people to use toilets 20p or in some toilets 40p
Also the Island is one of the most expensive Council Taxes in UK
The Island should become a Tax Haven like Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man
especially the way they are creaming in all the money.
I’ll be turning it off again if that hotel in Yarmouth is featured like it was the last time. I’m all for thriving business but that segment was vomit inducing.
The George is way overpriced.
You can get better from M&S dine out meals, much cheaper and better quality.
Well let’s hope it shows the island in a more realistic way than the last series, ie: the drunks and druggies of Ryde etc.
Let’s hope for a different view of Yarmouth then and not just the George Hotel, just because the film crew were staying there
No doubt it will be just another thinly disguised advert for a certain establishment in Yarmouth. If they ruin what is potentially a really good advert for the Island I for one will be turning it off.
Maybe Chris Packham as narrator.Show Wetherspoons at 10am.Smell of weed in any island High St.How to attain 1star for any food business. How to turn your car over and scarper. How to save up to park and visit Newport.Happy days.
Hope they show that bloke in Ventnor who wanders around with no shoes and eats of bins. The shouting nutter in Lake Cliff Gardens would make riveting viewing too. But please no more of that twit Howard at the George Hotel. A truly dull and deluded man.
And no more of that twit Twitchmash…. his voice is soooo dreary it’s enough to put anyone to sleep.
Go and visit Norris Castle. Go to some of the local well known cafes..
How about making it about the “real” Isle of Wight, dodgy council, over development, rubbish MP who does nothing for the island. The true story of how people who live here can barely afford to now because of the influx of 2nd, 3rd and 4th homeowners. Struggling businesses, closed down shops in every town, rip off ferries, and maybe ask how real islanders feel about it all, not just the gold tinted stories that are so unreal it could be taken as an outright lie.
Come off it. We all love it here really. Sun, sea, and sex on tap!
Somebody tell Twitmarsh we are not surrounded by The Solent.
Alternatively just tell Titmarsh to do one!! He isn’t an Islander he just moved here and demanded trees got chopped down so he could view The Solent! From his windows.. Very eco Alan… At least The Council said no to that
Alan should have sent them a brown envelope, that usually does the trick
Lol
Sorry but lost interest when early episodes turned into the life of a certain Bembridge fish mongers ..have to agree Mr titmarshs voice is enough to make one join Quarr abbey ..as for having electronic signs to update the status of the doomed floating bridge another classic .maby state how many 2nd 3rd homes are on the island…..
Walk round Cowes on a evening all you need is tumble weed ..errie….
Was disappointed with series 1. Seemed to focus on rich business’s, with many DFL’s… No Island characters, history or good causes or community stuff…
Will they tell the truth this time and show it warts and all. The rubbish, the dereliction, the drug takers and dealers, the cars in the fields with their wheels where the roof should be. No, I don’t think so.
This is not the only place in the UK with problems, people. But what you do have is a community that wants to make things better.
Very little sense of community left elsewhere. Value what you have, it may not be perfect, but it’s good.
