UPDATED: Police launched an aerial and land search during the early hours of this morning (Friday) after a car crashed through a garden wall and into a house in Upper Ventnor.
The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth was tasked to assist ground units at just before 03:20 after a blue Peugeot 206 crashed into a property off Newport Road, causing damage to a garden wall and the front of the family home. The impact was great enough to smash the front room windows.
The occupants of the car made off from the scene, prompting officers to descend on the area in a bid to locate the driver. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
The NPAS helicopter was stood down from the search after clearing open areas. At the time enquiries continued.
No one is thought to have been injured in the incident.
UPDATE @ 13:00 – 2 men from Shanklin, a 50-year-old and a 19-year-old, have both been arrested by Police in connection with the incident.
