A yellow weather warning for yet more heavy rainfall has been issued for the Isle of Wight, with multiple spells of rain expected from the early hours of tomorrow morning (Thursday) through to Friday morning.
IW Met Service is warning of periods of heavy rainfall moving across the Island, with particularly intense downpours possible in the early hours of Friday morning.
The warning is valid from 01:00 tomorrow until 10:00 on Friday (6th February).
A more showery but potentially very heavy band of rain is expected during the latter part of the warning window, increasing the risk of flooding and disruption.
Local impacts may include:
- Flooding of roads along with widespread surface water
- Soil, silt and shingle being washed onto roads and walkways, especially in rural areas
- Ongoing flood risk to some rivers and streams across the Isle of Wight
- Polluted stormwater affecting the quality of water on local beaches
Residents and motorists are advised to take extra care during this period, particularly when travelling in low-lying or rural areas.
