A yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued for the Isle of Wight, covering Wednesday afternoon right through to dawn on Thursday.
IW Met Service says that late on Wednesday morning a large area of persistent rain will move up from the South West, some of which is likely to be heavy at times – especially later in the afternoon and into the evening.
Forecasters predict 15-20mm of rainfall is likely to fall widely, but over some parts totals could be as high as 30-40mm.
This will add to the already high river levels from all the recent rainfall.
Islanders should be aware of surface water and flooded roads leading to hazardous driving conditions. Water courses could breach their banks in the usual prone spots.
