A popular pub on the outskirts of East Cowes has been forced to temporarily close due to what has been described as a health and safety issue.
The Folly Inn had to close its doors and turn away guests on Saturday as a result of the issue, which management have not expanded on in any greater detail.
The sudden closure is said to be to allow essential work to take place.
Staff say that the waterside pub will be re-opening on Tuesday at 18:00, just in time for a planned charity quiz.
A spokesperson for the Greene King establishment has said:
“As always our customers safety is our main priority and we can only apologise for the inconvenience”.
The food was very poor last weekend hope they improved the cooks
Mmmmm……..given the tumultuous turnover in managers at The Folly this year combined with a number of chefs walking out in anger and frustration I am not surprised that “a health and safety” issue has been put forward by Greene King to camouflage the fact that this dear old pub has fallen on hard times.
The Folly was closed one day last week, according to a notice on the door, because of a water issue.
Strange… we’ve always had good food and good service there…
The food we had last time was the worst food we have ever had and will never go back again.

I have visited the Folly twice in the past week to find it still closed , it’s a diabolical long potholed road leading to it .
Why hasn’t someone in charge with the ‘ Brain ‘ to put a notice up off the Main road stating closure instead of annoyed customers in the car park having to make the car damaging trek back up that road .
Have done so .
Maybe if the managers of this pub told people the truth about this closure they wouldn’t be receiving do many damning remarks that will damage the pubs reputation
I have been going to The Folly for over 13 years and it really has hit rock bottom, would not eat there again and the staff are uninterested and rude too. It needs sorted as it used to be a really great pub. Green King you need to sort this out…..
Following a recent visit we won’t be returning. Food was absolutely dreadful.

The one and only time I ever went there I got food poisoning from the prawns I ate. They offered me a free meal but never went back !! Why would you
