UPDATED: A man has sustained serious head injuries and another spinal injuries following a boat crash in Cowes during the early hours of this morning (Sunday), as first reported by Island Echo.
It has been confirmed that the 20ft fishing boat, Loose Canon, with 4 men aboard, was involved in a violent collision with an obstruction in Cowes Harbour at around 03:00. According to Cowes RNLI the damaged boat floated down with the tide to Trinity Landing.
As previously reported, 3 people have been taken to St Mary’s Hospital following the early hours incident. 1 of the men has sustained serious head injuries, whilst another has suffered a spinal injury.
Investigations are ongoing.
UPDATE @ 11:48 – A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight NHS Trust has updated on the casualties’ condition:
“The ambulance service responded overnight to an incident in Cowes harbour. Three males were conveyed to St. Mary’s Hospital. Two of the patients have been discharged.
The third patient, who has chest injuries, is stable but may need to be transferred off the Island to another hospital.”
