Gritters are out and about across the Island’s road network tonight (Tuesday) as forecasters warn of wintry showers and the formation of ice overnight into Wednesday morning.
The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across large parts of the country, including the Solent area. They anticipate that parts of Southern England could be affected by snow, sleet or hail.
Meanwhile local forecasters Isle of Wight Met Service say that hail, sleet and perhaps even a little bit of snow will fall predominantly to the South and East sides of the Island. No snow is expected on the ground but there may be a slight dusting on the highest hills.
