GREGGS OPENS 50TH FRANCHISE SHOP ON ST CLARE FERRY

Wightlink employees - names witheld upon request.Greggs celebrated two milestones this week – the opening of its 50th franchise unit is the company’s first shop on water.

The new Greggs shop, which opened last Monday on Wightlink’s flagship ferry St Clare, will serve customers travelling between Portsmouth to Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight.

Eight jobs have been created at the shop, which features Greggs’ new stylish design based on Greggs’ bakery food-on-the-go format.

Greggs’ first shop on water follows the successful launch of the popular food-on-the-go brand at Wightlink’s Portsmouth Gunwharf car ferry terminal in 2014.

Wightlink’s Cabin Services & Brands Manager, Nicky Mihell said:

“We are delighted to announce the arrival of Greggs on our flagship ferry and we are sure its high quality freshly-baked treats, together with tasty sandwiches made on the premises, will be very popular with our customers. This great British brand will offer customers even more choice on their journeys.”

Martin Kibler, Greggs’ Business Development and Property Director, said:

“We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Wightlink by opening the first Greggs shop on water. They are an excellent operator and this will make Greggs even more accessible to both existing and new customers as they travel.”

Customers can expect to find a menu of Greggs freshly baked favourites, including the iconic sausage roll, which will be baked-off fresh in the ovens of the Deck Four shop.

The menu also features Greggs’ new Balanced Choice range and hand-finished sweet treats, plus a wide selection of cold and hot drinks, including freshly-ground 100% Fairtrade coffee.
