Police have cordoned off a bar in the centre of Ventnor following an assault late last night (Wednesday) which left a man with facial injuries. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary was called to Pier Street at 23:19 to reports of an assault outside Tintos Bar, at the junction with Albert Street. Officers responded to the scene and located a man in his 30s who had sustained injuries to his face, which required hospital treatment. A 36-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a Class A drug. He remains in custody at this time. Island Echo understands that Police and ambulance activity on the High Street, near Central Car Park, during the early hours of this morning was in connection with this incident.
