UPDATED: A fire in the rear garden of a property just yards away from Ryde Fire Station has spread to 2 residential properties this afternoon (Sunday).
2 appliances from the adjacent Ryde Fire Station are currently attending the incident on Great Preston Road, which has caused smoke damage to the living room of 1 home and minor damage to the roof of the next door property.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the incident at just before 15:10.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus have tackled the flames and remain on scene damping down. The two properties are being ventilated.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service say the cause of the blaze is currently unknown and that the incident could have been much worse.
UPDATE @ 16:15 – Fire crews are now making up in preparation of leaving the scene.
No one has been injured in the incident, however 2 pets have been taken to the safety of a neighbour.
