The skills of a window fitter turned firefighter have resulted in the successful rescue of a mother and her child from a bathroom in Freshwater this evening (Saturday).
1 appliance from Freshwater Fire Station was mobilised to Bowbridge Court shortly before 18:30 when the duo became stuck in their own bathroom as a result of a broken lock.
Firefighters were able to gain access to the first fooor room by removing the window frame, which was skillfully carried out by one of the station’s longest serving crew members who, by trade, is a window fitter.
