Members of Freshwater Bay WI have shown their support for Mountbatten by donating handmade sunflower scrunchies following a talk from Deputy CEO Becky McGregor about severe cuts to the hospice’s funding.
Becky McGregor attended the WI meeting last week (Thursday 12th June) to speak about Mountbatten’s work and the financial challenges it now faces. Members learned more about the hospice’s vital role across the Isle of Wight and the impact of recent funding reductions.
In response, the WI presented Becky with a selection of sunflower-themed crocheted scrunchies created by members. Mountbatten hopes to sell the items at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival to help raise funds.
The scrunchies double up as wristbands for those without long hair, providing a cheerful and practical way for festival-goers to show their support for the hospice.
