Islanders have taken to social media this week to complain about the usually excellent service from UPS, including one local who has been expecting a delivery of fresh horse semen from Belgium.
The rather unusual package was due to be delivered yesterday (Thursday) and the tracking suggested it had left Southampton on time, but the package failed to arrive by the end of the day. Unfortunately, if the delivery doesn’t arrive by 10:00 today it’s ‘game over’, with a lot of money lost for the receiver.
It isn’t an isolated incident though – a businessman from Godshill has been left unable to trade due to the late arrival of a package, also being delivered by UPS.
A Ryde resident has told Island Echo that he was expecting a delivery on Tuesday – and the tracking confirmed so – but the parcel was quietly tucked behind a garden gate shortly after 08:00 on Wednesday morning. The delivery driver didn’t ring the bell, but instead slipped a ‘sorry we missed you’ note through the letterbox.
It is hoped the package from Belgium will come today.

Lots of problems with Hermes, packages just left outside. No knock at the door or anything.
Problems with hermes way before virus! Thyre awful. Lose items and lie on tracking too.Bet most couriors are loving it at mo just how slack they can now get away with.
If you are going to criticise people, presumably couriers in this instance, then at least use the correct grammar. I agree they are awful and loose items.
Mark, check your spelling before putting other people down for the same thing!
Mark, check your own spellings before putting other people down for the same thing!
Hes waiting for his parcel to cum
it’s ‘game over’, with a lot of money lost for the receiver………… I would hope that the receiver is a female horse and not the person with the money.
What the actual f.. Face Palms for Editors of this site too..!!
UPS are having a mare
I no understand. Is Belgian horse semen something special? I mean is it like Belgian chocolate?
How do they extract the semen from the horse?
I think lots of delivery companies behind at the moment, but if you paid next day Delivery that is what you should get along side a good service
bloody lucky you got it when you did everything including the kitchen sink is being ordered online those poor drivers must be wrecked think about them for a bit, they’ve been out amongst this from the start
I dont think people who are not in logistics realise how busy the business is at present. It’s worse than the christmas peak!
I don’t know about ups or other couriers but my Hermes couriers have been excellent throughout this pandemic, social distancing while leaving deliveries/picking up parcels exactly where I requested. Personally I’m really grateful they are still working in a very busy and tricky period!
So what happened, did it show up? We need to know
Usually no problems at all with UPS but had a parcel smashed to pieces and left on door step. By time got outside was in van on way.
