Work on a brand new, 100-bed Premier Inn hotel in Sandown is progressing well with foundation piling now complete.
Substantial engineering work has been taking place over the past few months to create the foundations for the new hotel and restaurant. This has included piling that permanently stabilises the rear retaining wall along Guadeloupe Road and underground drainage pipes.
Steady progress is now being made with the ground works with steel reinforcements installed in preparation for the concrete ground beams, floor slab and lift pit to be poured.
Works are set to remain at ground level for the next few weeks before the first visible above-ground aspect of the building – the steel frame to the hotel reception and restaurant – is put in place.
Geoff Cook, Senior Project and Programme Manager, has said:
“We’re pleased to have completed the foundation piling on site and steady progress is now being made on the ground works. We’ve placed steel reinforcement in the ground and will be continuing with the ground works for the next few weeks. As we approach the summer, we’ll start to see the visible structure appearing with the steel frame of the hotel reception and restaurant.”
The current programme targets completion of the new hotel and restaurant by Spring 2020, ready for the hotel to open for next year’s Summer season.
