William Boote, a former RAF serviceman and long-time Isle of Wight resident, has been celebrating his 100th birthday.
Originally from Doncaster, William – who now calls St Vincent’s in Ryde his home – says reaching 100 is something he never imagined would be possible.
After serving in the Royal Air Force, he turned his skills to electrical work before relocating to the Isle of Wight in 1964. Over the decades, he lived in Ryde, Brading and Northwood, eventually becoming a well-known figure at Britten-Norman, where he worked for many years until his retirement.
A lover of dogs and aircraft, William celebrated the day with his friends and family and even got top start his morning with a birthday card from King Charles III.
Staff at St Vincent’s describe William as a ‘very independent man’.
