UPDATED: Forensic officers are reported to have been in attendance at a block of flats in Freshwater last night and into the early hours of this morning (Thursday).
According to sources, Police were situated outside the property on Hooke Hill near to School Green Road for most of Wednesday before specialist investigators donned forensic suits and entered the residential property yesterday evening.
Police were still on scene at gone midnight, ‘hidden’ out of sight around the rear of the property.
UPDATE @ 15:35 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 29-year-old man from Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm; being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.
The unnamed man remains in Police custody this afternoon as investigations continue.
UPDATE @ 16:40 – Robert Stephen Hughes, 29, has been charged by Hampshire Constabulary with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of heroin and being concerned in the supply of a class B drug.
Mr Hughes has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court tomorrow (Friday).
UPDATE FRIDAY – Robert Stephen Hughes of Wood Norton Road, Oldbury has been remanded in custody to appear before the Isle of Wight Crown Court on 11th September.
Mr Hughes did not enter any pleas to the charges when he appeared before Magistrates today.
