A flooding incident at the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) building in Newport has forced its temporary closure this afternoon (Monday). The Isle of Wight NHS Trust says that the doors have been closed to allow for emergency maintenance works. It’s understood that an internal pipe burst overnight. It’s hoped that the building will be able to re-open by mid-week – possibly Wednesday or Thursday. All booked appointments have been contacted and rearranged, either by phone, online or at a different venue. For those seeking prescriptions, you are advised to contact CAMHS who can direct you to where your prescription can be collected from. The phone lines are still operational.

don’t think anybody would notice if it’d closed for a year
in case it wasn’t clear, I’m implying they’re fucking useless.
First thought was ‘in what way?’. Second thought was ‘don’t reply on here’. Other avenues are available for anyone who needs help and I do know help is severely limited so all should keep trying and hang on in there. It’s a shitty system at present.
The Asylum at Whitecroft should have been enlarged not closed. THEN and only then would we see a drop in the number of those now ‘claiming’ mental illness to gain more benefits, or to avoid work, or to use such to obtain the lifestyle they want.
Give them six months locked up with real sufferers and they would be glad to get off their lazy backsides or to sort their own clones vile or weird behaviour out themselves without burdening the NHS or ‘claiming ever more’ for dumping another idiot on society.
Genuine cases fully excepted of course before the lefty woke piece of … appears as if by black magic.
And you can tell the differences…how? Or maybe explain to us all how CAMHS works please? But far more importantly….who originated the NHS you appear to be so concerned about? And the psychiatrists who sign off on mental health issues before any claims can be made for benefits are what, just plain wrong? Go and have a word in their ears.
Asylums were closed for a very good reason; shutting people away for what was often a temporary illness made them worse, not better. A bit like amputating a broken leg instead to treating it so it could heal.
