The Cowes Floating Bridge will be out of action from 19:00 this evening (Wednesday) and again tomorrow night as part of the current trial period to look at potential ways to improve the performance of the vessel.
It has been identified during routine maintenance that 4 guide wheels would benefit from being replaced with toughened steel wheels, to increase durability. The guide wheels guide the chain through the chain trough, onto the main drive wheels and then back out of the vessel.
As a result of the planned work, the floating bridge will be out of service between 19:00 and 22:30 on Wednesday (10th January) and Thursday (11th January) nights.
The now familiar replacement foot passenger launch will be in operation on both evenings until 22:30.
