Police have cordoned off a flat in Lake this morning (Saturday) following an altercation between two men, which has left one in hospital.
A cordon has been set up surrounding the property on Lake High Street after Police were called to the scene at around 04:00, as first reported by Island Echo.
Island Echo readers have described hearing loud banging at the time of the incident, which roused them from their sleep.
Paramedics have conveyed one male to St Mary’s Hospital, whilst another has been arrested by Police on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody for questioning at Newport Police Station.
A scenes of crime investigator is this morning conducting an examination of the scene.
The road remains unaffected by the investigation, however an area of pavement has been sealed off.
The extent of the injuries sustained is currently unknown.
