A flashing light spotted near Whitecliff Bay has led to a call out for the Coastguard tonight (Thursday).
Coastguard Rescue Officers are conducting a search in the East Wight in wet and windy conditions amid concerns an individual or individuals may be in trouble.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were called out at around 20:00 with 2 vehicles mobilised to the scene at Bembridge.
UPDATE – With nothing untoward found, the search has been stood down.
It is believed that the flashing lights seen may have been refracting light from
navigational buoys.
The call out has been seemed a false alarm with good intent.
