Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has been called to the mortuary at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport this afternoon (Tuesday).
1 wholetime appliance from Newport has been mobilised as a result of an alarm activation at just gone 13:10.
Inspections are currently being carried out in and around the mortuary area to rule out fire.
UPDATE – The incident has been declared as a false alarm.
Newport’s firefighters have now stood down.
