Fire crews from Newport and Ventnor were called to reports of a fire involving a boiler at a property in Ventnor this afternoon (Tuesday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) were called to an address on Mitchell Avenue shortly before 15:00.
It is thought the incident was caused by a water leak, leading to firefighters isolating both the gas and water supply to the boiler.
Crews quickly brought the situation under control and left the scene just 20 minutes after the call out.
Prior to standing down from the incident, smoke detectors were fitted inside the home.

That would be the cheap flammable water you get in Ventnor.
Glad it was sorted out so wuickly.
Seems a lot of trouble to go to just to get a few free smoke detectors.
Who said anything about them doing it “just to get a few free smoke detectors”? You half-witted toenail
Was there any car crashes today on that rock
