UPDATED: Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending an incident on Lake High Street this evening (Sunday).
Two appliances, one from Sandown and another from Ryde, are currently in attendance at a block of flats next to Kimbo’s takeaway, where a strong smell of burning has been reported.
The emergency service were called to the incident at around 19:50.
Fire crews are conducting a search of the property to rule out any fire.
UPDATE @ 21:00 – Firefighters have now left the scene having checked both the inside and outside of the building.
A Southern and Scottish Energy engineer has also attended the scene tonight.
