Firefighters and paramedics have rushed to Sandown this lunchtime (Thursday) in response to a medical emergency inside the town’s Boots store.
Emergency crews were first called at around 13:00 following reports of an ongoing incident at a commercial premises on High Street.
At the scene, a firefighters from Shanklin and several medical professionals from the Isle of Wight Ambulance – including an Operational Commander and Critical Care Paramedic – are tending to the poorly individual inside Boots.
High Street was temporarily blocked upon arrival of emergency crews due to parking issues however the road has now reopened.
As a result of the emergency, Boots has been temporarily closed.
The incident remains ongoing.
UPDATE @ 17:00 – Police have confirmed that during the incident a 45-year-old man from Newport was searched and a large quantity of cash and pills were seized.
The man remains in Police custody after being arrested on suspicion of possession of class-C drugs with intent to supply.
