UPDATED: Firefighters are tackling a small fire at the Gracellie Hotel on Hope Road in Shanklin this morning (Sunday).
Appliances from Shanklin, Sandown, Ventnor and Ryde are on scene having been alerted to the incident at around 09:00.
The Incident Command Unit from Newport is also in attendance.
Hose reels and 2 breathing apparatus are being used to extinguish the flames.
UPDATE @ 09:53 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have now successfully extinguished the fire, which broke out in a bathroom on the top floor.
Firefighters believe that the motor of an extractor fan – which caused hot plastic to drip onto a carpet – is to blame.
Quick-thinking staff attempted to tackle the fire using extinguishers ahead of the arrival of fire crews, who are now leaving the scene.
The damage to the room is said to be minimal and no one has been injured.
A gift exhibition being hosted at the hotel today is to go ahead as normal.
