UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is attending an incident at a factory in Sandown this morning (Thursday).
At just gone 09:00 more than 4 crews from Ryde and Newport, including an Aerial Ladder Platform, were called to Hydromar on College Close over fears of a large fire.
Firefighters from Ryde have entered the building and are assessing the situation.
The incident is not as serious as first feared by officials, with all but 1 appliance now stood down.
Staff have evacuated the building but are expected to return shortly. The business specialises in water jet cutting.
UPDATE – Hot oil leaking from a compressor inside the factory has been blamed for the alert.
The fire service have now stood down from the incident.
