UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue are undertaking an animal rescue near Downend this morning (Monday), where a horse has become stuck in a ditch.
Firefighters from Ryde and Newport are using specialist equipment to help free the animal at Great East Standen Manor off Burnt House Lane. Crews were called to the scene at just before 10:20.
A vet is attending the incident and is assessing the horse, which is said to be elderly.
UPDATE @ 11:55 – Firefighters have successfully freed the horse from its predicament.
The animal is now in the care of a local vet.
