UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and ambulance crews are responding to a road traffic collision on Forest Road in Newport this afternoon (Friday).
1 appliance and the Rescue Tender from Newport Fire Station are en-route to the incident, which is causing significant tailbacks in the area.
Motorists are advised to divert. The road has been closed in both directions.
UPDATE @ 15:50 – Thankfully, the incident is not as serious as first feared by emergency services.
A Mini and a BMW have collided at the junction of Betty Haunt Lane, however no serious injuries have been sustained.
The fire and rescue service and paramedics have now stood down, although Police remain on scene.
The road has been reopened in both directions and traffic is flowing.
