Bend at the junction of East Lane is a very short 90 Degree one !!
So?? What’s that got to do with crap drivers??…
islandecho It’s called Merstone corner
No no, its now a sudden bend! Like its never been there or the road used to be straight but suddenly it wasn’t.
Another one will be along soon…..
A bit like stupid comments then
This is why we have far too many crashes, because of people like you that live in denial wake up!!
Denial does not make you crash a car
Say that when the next one comes along!…
I’m sure people don’t deliberately go out to crash I bet we still have a lot less crashes than some places on the mainland and the way you comment anyone would think your a perfect driver.
Patience? I had to go through Merstone to get chicken. UNCALLED FOR!
what is a “sudden bend” then? has one materialised out of thin air, or is it the same bit of road that’s been there for years ?
They appear “Just like that”.
The Island must have some of the most dangerous roads or dangerous drivers in the Country!
There is not a day that goes by without an Accident.
Too many drivers go way too fast, especially when approaching junctions etc
Jersey is a smaller island than IW but have stricter rules.
Top speed limit 40mph plus they have low speed areas.
The Island needs to take lessons from Jersey.
Anywhere you could name has accidents every day it’s just they all get reported here on the island. London for example has countless ones on a daily basis.
Reduce speed reduce capacity of the roads. Roads will be busier and have increased number of accidents. Real answer, remove the need for cars.
Totally agree. IMO the biggest problem on the Island is the limited policing resource and supporting traffic mobile and fixed technology. Using your example, IOW has c.87 policing, response and patrol officers. Jersey has c.190 officers and they are relentless in cracking down on local crimes and traffic offences. Island offenders know they have a greater chance of getting away with poor driving standards.
You are absolutely correct that the island has some of the most dangerous drivers, though these are generally not those who travel at a decent speed. Over the years I have lived on the island I have only had a single near miss with a car driving fast, vs almost daily with people pulling out slowly right in front of you (look, wait, wait, now go seems to be the mantra), driving slowly round cornes but in the middle of the road and not understanding roundabouts.
Oh its a sudden bend, when did that pop up? Is it Roman?
On roads this time off year are wet and slippery with wet leaves aswell , slow down a bit leave 5 min earlier then usual and keep distance from other traffic
Why do we have so many stupid boy racers in their chavvy modified cars to appear as if they are on a racing track ?
Years have been spent developing the silencer, but they seem to want to break the sound barrier !!!
The lady trapped in her car was my step daughter who was driving along safely when the car that hit her didn’t take the bend but went straight into her, it was not driven by a stupid boy racer but a more mature person.
Hope your stepdaughter is ok.
