A brand-new fundraising event will take place at Newport Quay this Summer, as Wight Brainy Bunch launches its first-ever fire engine pull.
The unique challenge will see teams of 10 go head-to-head on 25th July as they attempt to pull an 18-tonne fire engine over a distance of 50 metres in the fastest time.
Organisers say the event will bring together friends, families, colleagues and local organisations for a day focused on teamwork, community spirit and fundraising.
Alongside the main challenge, there will be a full programme of entertainment including live music from local bands, stallholders, a licensed bar, food vendors and activities for children.
Kat Grimes, of Wight Brainy Bunch, has said:
“We’re extremely excited to introduce the Fire Engine Pull for the very first time. It’s something new, different, and full of energy—perfect for bringing the community together while raising vital funds and awareness.”
Teams must register in advance to take part, with limited spaces available. Spectators are encouraged to attend and support participants while enjoying the atmosphere at Newport Quay.
Funds raised from the event will support Islanders affected by brain tumours, with the charity providing practical, emotional and financial assistance to those in need.
