UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending a fire at the derelict Harcourt Sands holiday park near Puckpool this evening (Friday).
Two appliances from Ryde are currently on scene and working to extinguish the fire, which has broken out in the former kitchen of one of the run-down holiday chalets near the beach.
The fire service were alerted at just before 19:25.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have entered the building on the first floor and are using a hose reel to bring the incident under control.
UPDATE @ 20:35 – The fire has been contained and extinguished. Crews have now left the scene.
Thankfully, the fire was small in comparison to a blaze which destroyed the site’s entertainment complex back in 2007.
Police are investigating the incident.
