The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been called to HMP Isle of Wight in Newport this lunchtime (Wednesday).
Crews from Newport and Cowes have been mobilised to Albany prison following an emergency call at around midday.
UPDATE – It has been confirmed that the smell of smoke was reported to fire control, leading to a partial evacuation.
Fire crews have since been stood down from the incident, which is believed to be have been declared a false alarm.
